07. The Portrait of A Preacher

화가가 감정을 담아 그린 그림은 그 화가가 그린 앉아있던 사람의 초상화가 아니고 화가 자신의 초상화이다. 그림 속의 앉아있던 사람은 비본질적인 우연일 뿐이다.

“Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter. The sitter is merely the accident, the occasion.” - Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray.

설교자는 화가다. 그림은 그의 설교다. 그림 속의 모델은 ‘성경 혹은 그리스도’이다. 설교자는 그리스도를 모델로 하여 한 편의 설교를 그려나간다. 그런데 설교자가 그리스도의 진정한 그림을 그리고자 할 때는 그리스도가 아니고 설교자 자신을 그리게 된다. 설교자가 자신을 그리스도라고 주장하는 이단에 대한 말이 아니다.

Preacher is artist. His painting is a preaching. The model on the painting is 'the Bible or Christ'. A preacher is going to paint a piece of sermon modeled on Christ. By the way, when the preacher paints of the true painting of Christ, he becomes to finish to his own portrait. That is not about some heresies talking they are Christ.

음악이든지 그림이든지 아니면 문학이든지 모든 예술 작품에는 예술가의 영혼이 녹아있기에 예술이 된다. 그러나 설교자 자신의 모습과 영혼이 투영되지 않은 그리스도의 초상은 공허한 말장난이다. 만일 설교자가 자신의 지식과 적당히 좋은 문장을 붙이면 하나님의 말씀(설교)을 흉내 낸 모방 작품, 짝퉁 사기(詐欺)는 될 수 있다.

Because the artist's soul is melt in the workpiece, whatever it is, it becomes a work of art. However, the portrait of Christ which doesn't reflect figure and soul of the preacher is empty rhetoric. If a preacher adds his knowledge and pretty good words to his sermon, it would become a copy or a knockoff of the word of God.

설교자가 설경 말씀을 경험하는 극적인 순간이 있다. 말씀을 경험하는 그 순간을 영감이라고 한다. 그 말씀의 경험을 계속 거치면서 얻는 설교자의 영혼의 고통이 설교에 녹아들어간다. 그 영감의 간접 경험이 또한 필요한 다른 사람들에게 성령의 감동하심과 함께 전달될 때 그것을 예언이라고 한다. 이것이 설교자의 하는 일이고 그가 받은 부르심의 최종 목표다.

There are moments preachers experience a rush of the word of the Bible. The moments are called as the Spiritual inspiration. The pain of the preacher's soul passing experiences of the word assimilate into the preaching. It is called the prophecy when the indirect experience of the inspiration is passed to the people who also need it. This is the work of preachers and the ultimate goal of their calling.

깨닫지 못하고, 확신이 없고, 영감 받지 못한 설교자의 설교는 그냥 Blah-blah-blah일 뿐이다. 계속 그런 식이라면 설교자는 회중들에게 솔직히 자신의 형편을 고백하고 설교를 그만두거나 아니면 죽기 살기로 하나님께 매달려야 한다. 때로 하나님은 자신에게 매달리는 사람에게 은혜를 주시기도 한다. 그런데 목사에게 설교 못한다고 말해주는 사람이 아무도 없으니, 우리 목사님 어찌할꼬! ▶◀

Preachers without awakening, confidence and spiritual inspiration, say blah-bah-blah when they preach. If a preacher keeps his preaching that way, what he needs is stopping preaching or clinging to God. Well, no one tells his preacher no. What shall the preacher then do?
